    Hi All,

I try to build home lab for NSX-T, I want to figure out NSX-T feature with my laptop. though i import ovf file on vmware workstation 14
    I can't open NSX-T manager by URL
    This is my question

    1)  is it possible to install NSX-T through import ovf file (nsx-unified-appliance-2.5.1.0.0.15314292)
    2)  after import ovf file,  there is error messages during boot it up
          you can check attached file
. this is very strange ip. it is different  that i enter ip during installation ( my value is 192.168.100.100. however  nsx manager try to get 192.168.100.11)

could anybody help me to solve this issues ?

    Hi,

I have installed nsx-t 2.5 on workstations 15 and it install nsxmgr without any issue. However, I found connectivity issue between east-west network. Whenever I connect segments to.vms , I found the TEP on both ESXi host want into down status. I think there is issue with nsx-t deployment on workstation .

Any one who has this solution, please provide your input.

    Hello Sachin,

This type of installation is not supported, see the link below for NSX-T manager requirement.

    NSX Manager VM System Requirements
    Vmware remove preview
    NSX Manager VM System Requirements
Before you install an NSX Manager or other NSX-T Data Center appliances, make sure that your environment meets the supported requirements. For supported hosts, see the VMware Product Interoperability Matrices. KVM RHEL 7.4 and Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS Note: In NSX-T Data Center 2.5, hosts running Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS must be upgraded from 16.04.

    Hope this helps.

Trying to install vSphere nested and install NSX in this vSphere. See the hardware compatibility. Only for LAB.

    Best.!!

NSX-T 3.0 installed successfully on VMware Workstation 15:
    - vDS 7.0 on vsphere 7.0.10600
    - NS traffic OK
    - EW traffic ok  intra / inter  segments
    - T1 and T0 gateways etc

just make sure you have different IP subnets for the VTEPs ( ex. compute vs edge ) and the correct VLAN tagging across the profiles.
Your logical switches / segments will show up nicely in the vsphere networking  with the little "N" icon :)

I'm having the same issue, what is not working for me is NS traffic. I'm using same TEP Pool for compute and edge, and not using VLAN. Can you please share your network topology?

The problem I have is that I can do ping, and traceroute up to internet, but for any other protocol I can't go farther than DVS. From a test VM I cannot go even to the NSX Manager that is connected to the VMware workstation switch, but I can get to another VM that is connected to the same ip subnet inside the nested ESXi enviroment.

    Hey Jose,

I don't have a diagram ... yet, I can send u some screenshots ... it's an all in one env on top of Workstation 15 due to my HP820Z ... sigh ...
All is based on ESXi nested with two ports ... one port is used as uplink for vDS 7.0 with a trunk dPG ( I had to spend some time working with the intel driver to make sure the vlan tags hit the "wire" ... workstation + win pro is a dangerous combination :)

Ok ... so ... same VTEP subnet didn't work for me, I had to make sure I have separate VLANs and IP subnets in underlay for the VTEP subnets assigned to my Compute hosts and Edge VMs.

Also make sure all underlay routing works fine ... Workstation 15 is known to be troublemaker along with Win PRO when it comes to tagging vlans etc.
I had to fire up a virtual switch and make sure all the underlay vlans and routing check ok within the environment ( I'll send u some screenshots shortly)

Double-check the correct host profile and the VLAN settings when u prep ur fabric nodes.
My BGP sessions came up right away through the T0 gateway ... no need to play with the FW ... and I think at least in the NSX-T 3.0 the FW is in any to any allow ...

I'll ping i later on with the screenshots from my workstation 15.

    Hey Mihai,

I think I know the problem I have... my VMware Workstation jumbo frames are not working... that's why ICMP traffic works but anything else get lost....

    If try this command: vmkping -S vxlan 172.30.1.14 -d -s 1572 -c 10 I get nothing... but If I do vmkping -S vxlan 172.30.1.14 -d -s 1472 -c 10 it works...

I read you are going to the wire... I'm not.. I'm using NAT network...

    @ Sachin,

In the VMware Workstation scenario, chances are your host network card doesn't have enough bandwidth to handle requests.
Add additional nics on your workstatio host and ensure it's dedicated to the NSX-T

    @ Sanndeeuk Kwon,

    1) You should be able to import ovf, provided there is enough resouces on your workstatio host
    2) Ip issues, indicate the NSX manager is using the IP address from the DHCP Server, which is either your local router and or VMware Worksation is providing ip address. Check via, Edit | Virtual Network Editor

i did my lab for NSX-V and NSX-T in workstation 15. and it was working successfully, Sure with low performance but it's a lab environment. but normally you need to configure all your inputs in proper way. if you configure any of the options with incorrect configuration it will not show you an error it will continue but you will find strange behavior as you got. try your steps with esxi server and dont click finish this only to check what is missed also you can check my blog you will find the steps. https//:www.syncgates.com

    For the IP configuration:
    - Do you have DHCP configured in the workstation?
    - Check the configuration in the wizard for DHCP or Static.
