This session is for anyone who has never had the confidence to learn to code. Getting started with coding is difficult without a use case, a mentor, an environment you can learn, and a safe place where there are no stupid questions. This session is an introduction to coding for folks who have a background as infrastructure and virtualization administrators. We will show you the 'art of the possible' – various programmatic ways of accomplishing the same task including PowerCLI, Terraform, and direct API calls.
Nico Vibert is a Principal Cloud Architect (Office of the CTO, Global Field, and Industry). Most of his career has been spent in the networking world, from a junior support engineer working for a Cisco partner to a senior network architect working for Cisco itself. Nico finally joined VMware late in 2015 and worked on the network virtualization software NSX before transitioning to the VMware Cloud on the AWS team. Nico has a strong technical background, validated with 17 certifications over his career, including the Cisco CCIE certification. Nico regularly speaks at events, whether on a large scale such as VMworld, Cisco Live, or at smaller forums such as VMUGs or local events.
Patrick Kremer is a Staff Solutions Architect and Office of the CTO Ambassador at VMware focused on VMware Cloud on AWS. Patrick spent most of his career as an infrastructure admin before joining VMware in 2014. He has spent the last year modernizing his skillset by developing programming skills and evangelizing for other VI admins to do the same.
Please join us (virtually) for an information-packed event. Let’s make this interactive as always!
